Following the vicious military campaigns led by the Syrian and Russian forces against Idlib’s southern countryside and Mu’arat Al-Nu’man, thousands of families fled away from death and bombardment towards the northern border areas, which are safer. Entire cities were emptied from their residents, with no where to go. Thousands of displaced families were crammed into overcrowded shelter centers and camps. Some families even ended up in open areas, farms, and warehouses, which are unequipped for human use. This project aims at building 1000 housing units near the northern border areas to house 1000 displaced families who lost their homes and became shelter-less.
About the housing unit
The project provides decent housing for displaced families who currently live in camps, in a way that respects their humanity and dignity while still costing as much as a tent or even less. The project provides a quick construction-based solution: Block walls, cement grounds, isolated ceiling and relevant healthcare facilities and services. Implementation is planned for as many housing units as possible within a short time-frame, so that we can house as many families as possible within the shortest time.
Areas
The project provides housing units with different designs and sizes to fit families of varying sizes. The current housing unit models are: (A 6 meter x 4 meter housing unit: One unit with facilities, for a small family of up to 4 members, and 8 meter x 4 meter: Two units with facilities, for a family of +4 members)
