“They call me Yaqout’s nurse in the neighborhood because I’m always at the hospital with him,” says his mother, proudly and patiently bearing the test she’s been given. Little Yaqout matches her strength, but he’s deeply worried about whether his treatment can continue, how can it, when they have no source of income?
For years, Yaqout has undergone surgeries to treat a rare condition he was born with: malformations in his urinary system that prevent him from relieving himself naturally, along with deformities in his feet. So far, he has completed 12 out of the 24 surgeries he needs.
He has already endured so much and is halfway through his journey. With just a little more to go, we cannot turn our backs on Yaqout, especially when he continues to hold tightly to his dream of healing.
