A year ago, Ghaliya was a hardworking and self-reliant woman who made a living through homemade preserves to secure her daily needs and pay her rent. But life did not give her much time—severe bleeding turned her world upside down. After undergoing multiple tests, she received the devastating news: rectal cancer.
She spent three months in Turkey undergoing medical tests and imaging before returning to Syria, where her doctor requested a PET scan—the only imaging that could determine the extent of cancer spread. However, this scan is only available in Damascus at costs far beyond her means.
Today, Ghaliya, who lost her home due to her illness, lives with her mother in her brother-in-law’s house, with no income and no hope except for the kindness of others. Will we leave her to fight this battle alone?
