Though still so young, Fatima carries pain far beyond her years. A meningocele has left her limbs paralyzed, making her constantly dependent on treatment and medical supplies.

Fatima does not bear this suffering alone—her father shares it with her. He has suffered repeated strokes that left him partially paralyzed and burdened with unbearable disability.

In the face of this ordeal, the eldest son was forced to take on the worries of his family before his time. At just seventeen, he became the provider, carrying more than anyone should have to bear: his sister’s medicine, his father’s treatment, and the household expenses.
