Mazen was injured while helping during the liberation of Idlib, leading to the amputation of one limb and a shrapnel injury in the other, which caused infections and nerve damage. Despite the pain and the development of a painful neuroma that requires surgery, he has not lost hope.
He lives with his family in a modest home lacking necessities, and despite his injury, he continues to work to secure an education for his four children; one of whom needs treatment due to a leg-length discrepancy.
