The streets are filled with the scent of spices, the call to prayer (Adhan) echoes through Syria, and families gather around modest tables—but for too many, the plates remain empty.
After half a century of hardship, this Ramadan marks a turning point. It is the first Ramadan in a liberated Syria that many dream of seeing whole again, yet thousands still face hunger, loss, and uncertainty. The traditions of togetherness, of breaking bread at Iftar, remain a distant memory for families displaced, for children orphaned by war, for the elderly left to fend for themselves.
This is why we are launching Half Century Ramadan. A campaign not just to provide meals but to restore the dignity of shared moments. To ensure that when the call to Maghrib is heard, no one has to wonder where their next meal will come from.
Through this initiative, Malakeh, a Syrian chef who has carried her country’s flavours across the world, returns to Syria to cook for the people who need it most. Together with our partners, we aim to deliver 60,000 meals to orphans, widows, and struggling families.
Every plate shared is a message: You are not forgotten. This Ramadan, let’s pass the plate forward.
