Yet, he refused to go to the prison hospital, for he had seen fellow inmates return from there stripped of their sanity–victims of horrifying medical experiments. To him, death seemed a lesser fate than that unspeakable horror… Today, even after his release, Youssef remains trapped in a relentless cycle of suffering. He lives with his family in an old, crumbling house, with no electricity and barely the most basic necessities. Desperation forced him to sell their furniture just to feed his children. Though kind-hearted people offer small amounts of help, it is never enough to keep hunger at bay.
