Shireen lives with her family in a modest room with only the simplest furnishings, with no provider and no ability to meet their basic needs or pay the rent for their home. Her young son tried to help by working in the strawberry harvest during the season, but his struggle with rheumatic disease forced him to stop. After the mother’s divorce and the father’s return to Syria, the family was left to face the hardships of life alone, struggling with daily expenses, water and electricity bills, and unpaid rent piling up. Today, this weary family needs a compassionate stand to ease their hardships and grant them a chance at a safer, more dignified life.
