Like many of the displaced who returned after the liberation, Khalil came back with his wife and six children to the home they had long dreamed of, only to find it destroyed and looted by the former regime.
Today, their house lacks the most basic necessities of life: no windows, no doors to protect their privacy, not even a water tank to quench their thirst. Khalil suffers from a chronic back condition due to a slipped disc; he underwent surgery, yet the pain persists, along with chronic chest inflammation.
The tragedy did not stop with him. One of his sons lost his left eye in an accident, while two others suffer from severe hearing loss.
The feeling of helplessness weighs heavier on his heart each day, especially as debts pile up and his illness prevents him from working. The family has no provider but God, and the generous hands of those willing to help. Let us be the support that lifts him in his time of need.
