After a long journey of displacement from the Mashhad Ruhin camps, this grandmother returned to her village — a place she had longed for years to see again. But when she arrived, all she found was the rubble of her destroyed home.
She did not give up. With strength and faith, she stretched a few sheets of fabric over the broken walls, creating a small shelter to hold on to what little remains of life.
This brave woman is the mother of three martyrs, each of whom she lost one after another in the battles for Syria’s freedom. Today, she is raising her three orphaned grandchildren, young children who know nothing of life except the warmth of their grandmother’s embrace and the pain of loss.
They have no one to rely on but God — and the kindness of good-hearted people.
Together, we can help them rebuild a real home — a safe roof to protect them from the cold and the coming winter.
