In 2019, while the family was trying to shelter from the shelling, a diesel barrel exploded inside their small home. In moments, warmth turned into flames that consumed the features of childhood from the faces of Asmaa and Mohammad, and left their mother, Fatima, with painful burns. Today, years later, the effects of the fire still follow the two children. Both of them need fractional laser sessions to reduce the scarring and restore part of their facial features. Asmaa needs five sessions, while Mohammad’s condition is more difficult and requires continuous treatment. Their father, in his seventies, is unable to work, and their mother works in the fields for a very small wage, barely enough for food, let alone treatment. Each treatment session is a glimmer of hope for two children deprived of the features of childhood and a normal life. Help bring hope to Asmaa and Mohammad.
