Mahmoud is a child with liver disease

He greeted us with a beautiful smile that hides his pain. Mahmoud is a four-year-old child suffering from liver disease. His condition requires regular medical care, and every month his father takes him to the hospital for treatment sessions. His father had to leave the family in Syria and move to Turkey so that Mahmoud can receive treatment. Mahmoud and his father live with their six relatives in a small, poor house of three rooms. His father can't secure a livelihood or better housing for them. He also dedicates his time to taking care of him. Mahmoud spends his childhood traveling between Antakya, where they live, and Adana, where the hospital is. They may stay for days and pay unaffordable costs.
