After Mohammad’s family lost their father and two of his brothers, they returned from Turkey to their home in Syria only to find a structure reduced to bare walls and a roof, without doors or windows. The mother and her four children now live in severe hardship with no source of income. Mohammad, who underwent cochlear implant surgery two years ago, continues to struggle with significant speech difficulties and was unable to adapt to public schools, which forced him to leave school and work to support his mother. Mohammad needs monthly sponsorship to continue his education at a private school that can support his speech development and give him a chance at a dignified life.
