Baby Tasneem's Physiotherapy Journey!
Tasneem has a very emotional story. The first time we saw her, we found that the 2-year-old baby has no control of head movement, nor of her extremities. Moreover, she was unable to sit independently, nor even roll over in bed like all other babies.
We found out that Tasneem's condition is due to a hypoxia episode during the delivery. Because of hypoxia, she was born with motor retardation accompanied by low comprehensive and cognitive skills. The baby needed rehabilitation via regular physiotherapy sessions, in order to strengthen her extremities and to allow her to control her body normally. However, this is one of the services we offer, free of charge, in Molham Center for Physiotherapy in Idlib city - NW Syria.
Tasneem's physiotherapy journey was divided into two phases, over a period of 6 months.
First phase:
Tasneem had been trained to improve the joints' range of motion all over the body. This is how the baby started to acquire the power to control her head movement, in one month only!
Then she underwent muscular strengthening training, which enabled her to roll over and change independently between supine and prone positions.
Second phase:
Tasneem acquired balance control through many exercises for trunk and pelvic muscles.
Long months of regular physiotherapy sessions resulted in this improvement of Tasneem's condition. Her family are hopeful that the baby gets better and be able to move normally and independently during the upcoming days.
In Molham Center for Physiotherapy, our aim is to improve the patients' abilities and rehabilitating them as much as possible. This mission is held by a group of specialists who are experts in treating different cases.
It has been one year since the centre was founded. In one year, 6882 physiotherapy sessions were performed, for a total of 738 males and 603 females.
Many thanks to all those who supported and continue to support this project, which is filling a gap in Idlib city.
